Question 5.3 LM7 cam question

Guys Im sure this is a question that has been beat to death at some point but I couldn't find answer during my search so hear it goes lol.

I currently have a stock 5.3 lm7 motor with CAI and Superchip programmer.
I am looking for suggestions of best cam setup. I like the sound of the 228/228 comp cam on youtube videos. Excuse me ahead of time as I am still learning about the ls motor. My truck has a 3 inch suspension lift with 35s I am wanting more launch and pull out of the motor. And of course I love the lobe sound lol..

Any help or advice is much appreciated

Derek

That cam will be an absolute turd out of the hole with 35's man. I'd look at something more like a 212/218 cam. The 228 wouldn't start to come alive until atleast 3000rpm in a 5.3. Assuming you haven't already done this, you'd be much better off regearing the truck with 4.56 gears or such and putting a decent sized stall converter in it than you would by camming it. Oh and ditch the superchips programmer and get a custom tune from a reputable tuner. That alone will help some but you need more mechanical advantage to move that big of a tire if you're looking for acceleration.

There's not much difference really. You can run the cheaper ls6 valve springs only with the low lift version.

If you want off the line pull, put in a converter/gears. Only then would I think about a cam.
