A more budget friendly alternative might be to go with a set of milled 6.0L heads. They've worked good on my TR224 6.0L setup. Just food for thought

He doesn't want to lower his 5.3's compression though. Milling .055" off the LS6 heads brings them down to 60.9cc from 65cc. 6.0 heads will require a lot more milling to bring them down to 60-62cc from their 72cc chambers.

Hmm, are the 799 castings chambered / valved differently for the 5.3's than the LS6's? Are they that hard to find?

243's and 799's are supposedly interchangable castings.

Then milling them down .045 brought the chambers to 58.8cc. .045 was the max that Richard recommended milling them to avoid intake fitment problems, although a few here have milled them slightly more. I haven't heard of anyone ever shaving one of the stock intakes to help it fit with milled heads. Keep in mind that milling heads also reduces piston to valve clearance, although a .045 mill with even a .045 head gasket should be fine with a TR220.

Unported LS6 heads milled down to 58.8cc chambers with a 3.910 bore x .045 thick gasket on a stock 5.3 shortblock will net you ~10.0:1 compression.
how much milling is req'd to bring the 243 head chambers to 58.8cc.

i would like the bring the compression to at least 10:1 and run a tr220 112lsa with 243 heads.

I'd put an educated guess that it would be around .045 like mine, but I bet that Richard at WCCH could confirm that. might want to try shooting him a pm.

More like .060+. Milling them .055" brings them to 60.9cc.
