Default 5.3 will not idle

Truck is a '00 Silverado 5.3 with only 36K miles. It intermittently will not idle at all (dies) but on-throttle is fine.

It's a friend's truck and he just had the tb cleaned at the dealer. It still does it. Can anyone help? I tried a search.

sounds like your fuel pump...a friend of mine had to give it some gas when he was stopped at red lights otherwise the truck would die

Thanks but aren't there some components that deal specifically with idle and nothing else?

I would say the fuel filter. If you run the truck at a higher rpm, the fuel pressure would get higher, forcing fuel thru the clogged filter. But if only at idle, the pump cannot push the fuel thru.

Throttle position sensor (TPS) could be acting up. But you should get a SES light and a code if that is happening. Anyway to scan for codes?

I'm not getting any warning lights, and I don't have a code reader.

So far, it only does it first thing in the morning. It runs perfectly normal all day, then won't idle for several starts in the morning. This morning it ran fine after three starts.

have him disconnect the batt. and unplug the two sensors on the t/b, then hook them back up and then the batt. make sure the truck is dead cold for like 12 to 24 hours and then start the truck and let it idle untill it reaches running temp then go and drive it for 50 miles at 55 mph then turn it off and see if it does better the next morning.
