5.3 year differences

Hey guys. A local buddy of mine has a 5.3 w/ 100k miles out of a '99 Siverado. Says its complete, aluminum heads, etc. I was just wondering what exactly the differences are between the earlier year 5.3s and later years? Should I look for a later year motor or will the '99 model still work good?

They use the same heads on the 5.3 for all the years correct?

Gonna be a swap into a Gbody if I pick it up.

depends . . . are you getting it for cheap?
What are you going to do with it, . . what are your goals with it?
what do you currently have? (engine wise in the truck)
