Hey, I just recently bought a 2004 Chevy 1500 ext. cab LT w/5.3L engine. I want to put some different mufflers on it to help increase the power and, of course, make it sound better. I'm curious which is better, between Maxflow and Flowmaster (I had flowmasters on my last truck and really did like them). Also, when I called a muffler shop out here and asked them about Duals, they said that they've had 5-6 people come back (Mostly with newer trucks) that said they lost ALOT of lowend when adding dual mufflers, possibly due to less backpressure.

Has anyone heard of dualing it out causing lower performance? Any suggestions on which type of exhaust to get? I'm expecting to pay under $400 for everything.

They most likely went to too big of a pipe when they went dual. Some people try and do dual 3" exhaust which is a bit big for such low HP.

My personal choice is to get a good muffler and weld it on and call it good. You'll see more gains from other parts you can buy after saving money on a full true dual system. LT headers are a good next choice if you already have air induction or a homemade setup as is custom tuning.
