Default 5.3L Need some direction

my bro wants to make his 5.3L faster especially after seeing Blujacan run 12.6- he started telling me about this blue 2wd silverado running 12.6 on heads/cam / tune and it was a 5.3L and i asked if it said blujacan on the video well sure enough it was him- so he wants to run mid to low 13's and was wondering what that would take

he said he wants a big cam- but that means a good set of heads and a tune.... could this get him low 13's in his SCLB z71-

or just tell me what he needs to get low 13's thanks

To start you need a good CAI, a cat back, probably some type of forced induction, cam, stall converter, and a hot tune. If you are going to do all that you should look into some beef for the drive train as well.

Yes, and that is on stock untouched heads, Tr 220, comp 918's, tci 3000sf, built 4l60e, lt headers, ory, hokker aero chamber, cai , nelson mail order tune, tb bypass, eaton, 4.10's , mt et streets 26X11.5, a badass burnout, and a head light an pimp light out...... I think that is everything he has..... And I should know this I have put some blood, swaet and tears into that truck.....lol

low 13's is gonna be hard for any 4x4 to get with those mods.. i'd shoot for 13's with heads/cam, headers and stall first.. then go from their..

someone onthe drag section ran 13.9 in their 4x4 ECSB which is about the same weight as his rclb and he had stall, 222 cam, and milled heads for more CR...

13.5-6's would be a good goal for a NA HC 4x4 in my opinion, which is damn good since that starting ET is 15.1-8's roughly

okay what cam is the best for A daily driver with lopy idle, okay MPG, and driveability, but some kick *** power. Also where can he find some long tube headers for his 04 Z71 5.3L a/t

I would do the tr 220 that is waht bluecajun has and it works good, sounds good, and I have seen 20 mpg on the highway in his truck, also that cam has good low end for a heavy *** truck....now the lt headers I dont think they make a ory pipe for a 4x4 yet, and if they do It will be pretty $$$$.... Check out pace setter for that info....

20mpg with 4.10 gears in bluecajun rear end?

I would say with a nice cam(not very good with cams, not good at all) and a big stall, then the bolt ons, i.e. gears, posi, Intake, tune, Lt's, good flowing exhaust, pulleys Im sure I missed something. I would think that would put you DANG NEAR brakin 13.00?
