Yes, you're right and I see that point. Nonetheless, I get a nice fuzzy feeling from getting comparable or even better fuel economy than my friend's V6 honda while smoking it in a truck. (Granted he is not an efficient driver ha)

I also expect gas prices will go up significantly soon, and with 215,000 miles on a 2004 truck I put more than 15k/year on, or at least have been.

I'm going to convert a full size truck to electric withen a year or so too, and will post some details and pics of that project at the time. I've done the calcs on rolling resistance and drag coefficient etc... Should be cool, my plans call for a 200kw+ motor and subject to my funds at the time, a 50-100 mile range @ 65mph. $3.60 fill up. Then I can pull up next to a prius and say how "I like to be part of the solution, not the problem. THANNKKKKKSSS* (For those of you who like southpark)


ANYWAY, I was looking at 6L engines and my original thought was LQ4 vs LQ9, which I would choose LQ4. However, I see there are a few newer engines LY6 and L76. What is there to know about those?

L76 is an all aluminum 6.0 with L92 rectangle port heads, Variable Valve Timing and the dreaded Displacement On Demand. It was also used in the G8 GT and the Holden down under.

I think the LY6 is the same engine with an iron block.
