Default 5.7 to 6.0

I know the question has been asked a million times, but my truck is older and has a different motor. It is a '97 SBRC 1500 w/ a 5.7 & a 4l60E. I want to know what the 6.0 swap would be like. Is it a pretty much a direct bolt-in like the 99-02 4.8 & 5.3, as they are all the same block??? My main question is, are there many more mods and prep. that need to be done first, or is it as easy as the 99-02s seem??? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, anyone who has done it, or has pics would help a ton! thanks again

bOb, I haven't done this swap. However owning both old and new body styles, i can tell you it isn't worth what would be involved. Your 350 and the newer Generation of engines are very different. This swap would require major electronic changes. What problem do you have with your 5.7L. It is a very good motor and can be made quite powerful, especially for your SCSB.

Nothing wrong really, but supercharger choices are limited. Th Magna is non-Radix and non-intercooled, therefore dosnt help 1/2 as much as the 4.8-6.0 Radix's do. how severe of mods would it take to get it in the mid-12's??? I appreciate the help.

A charger, cam, tune and full exhaust, stall would get ya pretty close to the 12's if not mid 12's.
The 350 is definatly one of the best motors gm built.Slap a cam and a 671 on it and it would run like a raped ape.check out the bm 144 blower or the holly blower.

I understand, I was in the same boat with my 99. I looked into all of the superchargers and none seemed really apealing. Have you looked into the Procharger kit?

Th procharger does stand out. About 60%-65% is what the advertise, thats over 100 for sure. I was thinking procharger, long tubes, full exhaust w/ cuts, cam, alum intake, maybe even better throttle body, and some kind of tune. What pcm tunes do you guys reccomend????

I think that would be the charger that would get you the closest. James B. seems to get good results with the whipple charger on his Tahoe also. You are on the right track, just dont forget about your driveline. Transmission upgrades will be necessary and a good limited slip differential. The tune is also crucial. Many use Ed Wright at Fast Chip for tuning on these engines; there may be other out there.

Major difference between the 5.7 of the older trucks and the ls1 engines.. is the newer ignition systems. Now its individual coils compared to the single distrubutor. I wanted to put the 5.7 from my suburban into my truck.. but it wasnt worth all the effort really and conversions and what not, or so i understood.
