Question 5.7 l31 tuning a stock setup

im looking to add some power cheap and i am thinking that i should start with a tune.

i plan on replaceing the spider injection with the new version off a later model.
cat back and somewhere down the line i will cam it but what i am wondering is

what kind of improvements can i expect from a pcm4less mail in tune? right now it just has a 140 amp alternator fixed issue of dimming lights on the high end of WOT. k&n air filter Bosch iridium plugs and some kind of performance wires.

I know i sound very newbish but i am doing alot of research before i decide to go in to modding.

also what cam can i run without yanking the heads.

I've heard they are good, can also check out black bear performance.. say the real power is upgrade to the 0411pcm then you can have full tune ability... I will be in the process very soon on updating the spider injection along with the vmaxx intake spacer, Cam and long tubes plus a black bear tune probably

The Jet/Tuner Cat system allows some tuning capacity support is minimal, but the 411 computer is evidently faster as well as more easily tuneable with any LS motor style program.

I have had good luck running the F/Y-car LT1 cams and the stock Lt4 cam in these engines. I would change the valvesprings on a higher mileage engine regardless of the cam. If you went with an Alex spring/retainer set I would have a hard time not running Lunati's version of the LT4 Hotcam. The Barebones 276/286 grind.
