Default 5.7 LS1 cam / TC suggestions

need some thoughts on a decent combo.

Ls1 truck 5.7
stock heads
shorty headers (possibly going to long tubes at the same time)
3.42-3.90 gears
will tune
rev limiter 6300
WOT shifting @ 5800 or so

looking for good power and nasty idle....but maintain drivablity.

arent you going to a turbo? if so put that in the list too because it will change the cam specs for sure. sportside will probably recomend the best cam but if your going N/A i figure a 3200 stall and a high lift 228/228 on a 112 will get you a rough idle and still be drivable. wait for sportsides word though. he seems to know a TON about cams.

Tx is about right on, any bigger, you might think it is a pain in the *** where others with a bigger stall, cam then that think it is fine for the street. Me personally wouldt go over a 32 on the street, thats just me

I put a TSP Torquer V2( 232/234, .595"/.598" on 113 LSA). Which is on the bigger side for a daily driver but its what I do! I originally had a 2800 and it didnt cut it so I put a 3500 stall in. Suprisingly its very streetable, to me at least. Now Im running the truck intake and bone stock 4.8 heads and after this weekend at the track it looks like they are restricting me so Im upgrading to a FAST and AFR 205's. So I think a 224/224, 228/228, or somehting along those line with a 3200 would work out nicely. I personally would get some LT's for this setup though. Keep us updated!

good cam choice. we did a heads (tsp ls6 stg1) and cam (tsp228r) in a 98 z-28 a4 w/ 3k stall and 3.23's. with my buddy just getting the hang of tuning, he managed to break in the 11.90's with 90* heat.
