Default 6.0

i took your advice from everyone here and bought a 6.0 w/400 miles on it today for 1500.00 top to bottom w/all acc. how did i do, its a spotless motor ,but it is out of a 06 savanna15 van so it might a sluggish one .gotta be better than a 4.8 . but more importantly will i have any problems bolting it up to my 1500 sierra and will there be any wiring harness issues or computer problems like do i need the comp out of the vehicle the motor came out of.i know theres tons of post about swaps but this is a van.oh will my 4l65e bolt up ok what do ineed to do to make it work long stort short.

just use the long block from the 6.0 and everything else from the 4.8...everything will bolt up perfectly. then load a 6.0 tune into your PCM.

EVERYTHING will bolt up you just need your computer reprogrammed otherwise known as tuned

the van motor is just a lq4 and will be a big powerful difference from the 4.8 after a tune

the only difference-performance wise between the lq4 and lq9 is a small compression diffrerence ( higher on lq9) and the tune

yes in stock form the lq4 what you have has lower hp than the lq9

ls1 is the aluminum 5.7 that came in early vettes and camaros and t/a's and early gtos

ls6 is the aluminum 5.7 that came in the later vettes and early cts-vs

ls6 has better heads and intake and a few other block changes

some lq4's are rated at 300 and some are 335...so most of the power between your lq4 and lq9 is in the tune.

I would also like to know the difference in hp rating. I know that the lq4 is lower compression like previously stated, but what is the difference hp wise. ANd when shopping for a 6.0, how do you tell by the vin if it's an lq4 or lq9? i know the 8th letter is different, but which is which?
