Default 6.0 Cam Questions

Picking up a lq4 next week to replace my 4.8. My question is my 4.8 has a 212/216 cam from texas speed and I was considering putting it in the 6.0 or should I just sell the current cam and go to something bigger? If so what would you guys think I should go with I was looking at the 228R but this is a truck and I'm used to the ls cars. Truck is a 5 speed also

That will be a real low end pulling type cam in the 6.0. Before I decided to go fi I was gonna go with that very 228r cam from Texas speed. I think it would be a good one. But only if you have gears and a 3-3200 range stall.

Thats what I figured. The cam works great in the 4.8 but Id like it to have a little sound to it and I think my 212 would sound stock in a 6.0 lol

If you are planning on sticking with the stock compression ratio of that LQ4 which is only like 9.4-9.5:1 you won't be very happy with that 228R cam. Your DCR would be low and the motor would be kind of "soggy". Even in a lighter car it still would not be good.

That's what im afraid of on the compression. So maybe something in the low 220ish range?

Their you go! Yes, the popular TR220 would work out well in your situation.

I would have to say definitely...8* more intake duration will have a direct effect on overlap and airflow, as well as moving the powerband up higher. Corey (BlackGMC) is currently running a Comp XER 220/224 .58x/.58x 115+5 and he loves the powerband...says that it basically makes power everywhere and pulls to about 6300 IIRC. He's running a 3200 converter, but I'm pretty sure that something with a stall speed as low as 2800 would still work too...although the 3200 is definitely more fun I've been considering something very similar for my LQ9 if I can ever afford it...220/224 114+4. If I could afford a new intake and exhaust mods (bigger stuff everywhere, especially in place of my current 2.5" collectors), as well as a restall to my Circle-D 258mm multi, I'd probably, most definitely go with a 224/228 .58x/.59x 112+4, but I'd rather have everything matched as well as possible, and swap cams again if I could get more air in/out via intake/exhaust I'm planning between 10.5:1 to 10.8:1 static compression for mine...probably closer to the 11:1 to allow for more room to grow on the camshaft...

Here's a good read about DCR that should be informative for those who are wondering: Dynamic CR

As mentioned in the article, a 7.5:1 to 8.5:1 DCR is optimal when using 91 octane gas...

The 220/224 sounds intresting. Something else that caught my eye is the eps 222/226. No stall either im a 5 speed
