Default 6.0 heads on a 4.8

I am getting my 6.0 heads in soon this week and wanted to know if they will work well on my 4.8? I plan on having a CNC P&P with a valve job and I have heard in order to maintain the compression I need to have them milled. how much milling needs to be done, and should I go with larger intake and exhaust valves?

I thought the 6.0L heads and the LS6 heads were almost the same.

Not sure what compression you are looking for so anywhere from .040 to .030"
Someone else will chime in with a more informed answer Im sure.

i have a set of Corvette heads that have been "messaged". They flow more than enough. i have heard of people with 6.0 heads on their 4.8's and liking it. it sould keep your compression ratio pritty much at the same point it is now.

It actually might even lower it if I am not mistaken. Which in turn would leave a lot to be had with a blower or turbo. That might not be a bad idea now that I think about it. More boost = more horse pressure!!!!!!

im pretty sure that stock 4.8 l heads are a 61cc and the 6.0l heads are a 71cc, that will drop you aprox. 1 compresion point, you will have to have them milled to get your compression back, and you could use thinner head gaskets if you wanted to, im not sure on the specs, maybe a .030.

There's 3 types of 6.0L heads:
1.Cast iron pieces of ****
2. LQ4 12562317
3. LQ9 12572035

2 and 3 both have 71.06cc comb. chambers and 210cc intake runners, I'm pretty sure they're close to identical, and the cr diff in the LQ9 and LQ4 came from the pistons.

Your 4.8L heads have a 61.15cc comb. chamber, so in order to get back to stock 9.5:1 cr you need to lose about 10cc! Without milling them you would get about a 8.48:1cr, and if you took off about .050" that would get you back to 9.5:1cr.

I used Performance Trend's compression calc program......hope that helps!

do you know what push rods I would need to buy. I seen some that said they were for shaved heads.
