Default 6.0 liter Denali exhaust

Getting ready to do headers and exhaust. I've decided on ASM headers. They recommended a B&B catback exhaust. What do you guys think. Its pretty pricey because it all stainless. What other brands have been tried with good results. I tried to do a search but "exhaust" is a broad term.Any help will be appreciated.

Most of us have custom built systems useing brands like Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Dynomax and others. Some of us have true duals and others have 1 in/2 out with and without tail pipes. Personally, I would not spend the $700+ for a full high end catback system. A few guys use Gibson and are happy with it. What kind of sound are you looking for ? Loud, quiet, loud when on the gas etc....? Describe what your trying to acheive and more answers will come in.

Thanks for the reply 4.8. I am looking for performance as the number one feature. I don't want it loud as I drive the vehicle most of the day. And definitly don't want any resonance. I had a 99 5.3 silverado and tried 3 different mufflers before I got it right. I finally settled on dynomax. Just wondering which one was the most freeflowing.

I like Dynomax mufflers myself, they are among the highest flowing and have a nice deep sound without being to metallic.

You might consider having a custom catback built using your muffler of choice. Then just buy a fancy tip, or reuse the stock Denali tip. Go with either a single 3" setup, or a dual 2.5" setup for that motor.

Tony, which particular dynomax would you recommend? Each header goes into the muffler there is no y pipe. Then it exits with one pipe out. I did notice that the drivers side pipe is somewhat flattened as it crosses over to get in line with the muffler. This is why i was thinking of a cat back. But i guess i could have some new pipe made. So i could use 2 1/2 from each header to the muffler? Then exit with 3" and just reuse stock tip. Thanks for the help.

The factory pipes are big and should flow pretty well.

Also, you might give Magnaflow a call and see if they are making anything for the Denali. In the newest Truckin' magazine they put a catback on a 2500HD 6.0 and got ~17rwhp/~30rwtq out of it. They said the sound inside the cab didn't increase much, something like 2db.

I agree w/ Neil. Use the same pipes up to the muffler. They are a full 2.5". You will get more flow If you go with dual 2.5s over a single 3" from that point. If you still plan on getting a SC put on, I would opt for the higher flow.

I don't want to sound to critical of Dynomax here but I had one on my truck (Dynomax "Ultraflo Welded Race" series) with stock in after Y and 2.5" dumps after(I had tailpipes out the back at one time) and it had a pretty good amount of renasonce in the cab at hiway speeds. BTW this was a $200 muffler <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> .I went with the Magnaflows and am very satisfied with the noise level, with My headers and true dual, it is nice and quiet until it's time to open it up a bit. I have pics of my new and old exhaust in my sig link sites.
