GMCtrk: I paid 1900 for a 0 miles 2002 LQ4 long block with a few acc. I'll try and take a few pics of the main stuff.

Thanks for the comments 03GMC, you're truck is bad as hell to, especially once you get that radix ... well I guess it's time to get started now. Later

Good luck! Mine has been sittin' here since MARCH!!! I figure I'm just going to wait til' I get back from vacation in August and then put it in. Hopefully I will have the cam and springs in one night this week, and then it will be totally ready. I just can't be without my truck or be dealing with tuning issues before we take our family vacation in August. It seems something keeps gettin' in the way....if it ain't work its something else. Oh well, hope all goes well...and give us an update as soon as you can. Did you go with a cam swap while it was already out??

Unfortunately, my friends boss had to close his shop at around 3 today, so it wouldn't have had been a realistic amount of time complete the swap. While I wait until next Saturday for the swap date, I think I'll order a turbo cam from cmotorsports as well as pushrods and valvesprings tommorow. I'll call up on some heads, and order them if I can have them completed by Friday or so...which I dought. It actually worked out ok that I didn't do the swap today though, since it would have been rushed. Now I hopefully can get a re-tune from Allen, cam, and heads ready for next weekend, as well as misc. stuff like oil and radiator fluid, etc. I'm going to have the cats removed tommorow as well

BADMOFO: You got your LQ4 from Barret right? That was one helluva a deal I would seriously be losing my mind if I had an engine sitting around for that long. I just got mine on Thursday, and I'm already becoming insane, that turbo kit isn't helping either lol. I'm sure everything will work out fine for you though. I'll keep you guys updated...hopefully I can get the h/c.

Oh yeah believe me I've been super anxious...but had other **** going on. I got a killer once in a life-time deal on a '57 Chevy that had a frame off $65,000 restoration done on it, from a guy who was getting divorced and I had to act on it! I had to sell my Oldsmobile (1984) Pro street in order to get the '57 so it took some effort to make that all happen. Then the company I work for (15 years) decides to build a new building and relocate (right down the road) which also is taking a TON of my time. Throw in Little League 3 nights a week, family vacations, and everyother thing you can think of....and that's the last 4 months of my life in a nutshell!!! I really haven't been that worried about the motor as of late, as I know I will have it done soon enuff. Actually, it took me about a month to decide on a cam! Now I'm kinda wantin' a Radix to top it all off, but don't think I'll be able to swing that! Looks like the first half of my warranty will go to it sittin' here on the stand! I'm lame! I'm hopin' to have around 100 more horsepower than my current 5.3 (from the engine, cam and springs, headers, pulley, etc), and hope to at least be in the high 13's NA in my extended cab short bed. Hopefully, I'll be able to stop if and once it happens! Good luck bro!

03Screamer, I am curious to see if you need to take off the front radiator cross member or if you can remove from the top. I have my brother's truck down to the point where we are gonna yank it soon. Unfortunately I got sent to CA by work for 3 weeks! His is a 4x4 tho and sits higher than most. I also ran into issues unbolting the transfer case from the tranny. Could not figure it out in the driveway.
I am in the Bay area working in Belmont ( just south of San Mateo bridge off 101 ). Drop me a line if you need some help or if you don't mind me looking in on the work. I plan to swap my stroker motor when returning to ABQ in early August.
Good luck, let us know how things are going!

Thanks for support guys!

I order a custom ground cam today from cmotorsports. I was told there's a chance I might see it by Friday, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. The specs are 234/228 .575/.570 on a 115. I also order some 72cc chamber 6.0 S3 heads from Terry at Patriot Performance. He said I should see them by Friday.

BADMOFO: That 57' sounds sweet! There is a guy around my town who has a 57' with a blower and a mellow flame job, boy is it badass! I'm sure once you hit 13's you'll want more lol = Radix. It never ends does it

Ktmrider: I'm not sure about the radiator support. Is it even neccessary to remove it? I thought I could just get away with removing the fan and shrouding. I actually live in Belmont, how cool is that. PM me you're cell number and I'll call you up. I have a pewter 03 RCSB with SS front end and 20's, in case you've seen me around. Anyway, we're doing the swap at my friends bosses high end Porsche shop down in Menlo Park off of Marsh, so we'll have all the right tools. If you could help out it or even look on that would be great! I haven't had much experience with real vehicles so some of this stuff is intimidating to me. My friend is pretty good with the wrench and is motivated to get **** done. Sounds like you have some LS1 oriented experience which would be very helpful! Thanks man!
