I never said that boost would come on early in a high HP STS truck Zippy my man

Just that if you stall it up and build boost off the line that you can launch as hard as traction will allow.

You are correct though. If I launch off idle in my truck I can only pull 2.0-2.1 60's but remember that my turbo is sized for my upcoming 6.0L...

my comment wasn't exactly directed at you. in most of the sts conversations i've had i usually hear about how quick they come into boost. 2.0-2.1 60' with a 3k stall.... your setup works well for you since you enjoy your track time, but for someone looking to do mostly street driving i don't think even the smaller turbo with a stock converter is going to be much fun.

F8L, you didn't say it, Diamond did.

I like that.

Ahh ok... I was wondering why i would have said something so foolish. I thought maybe I tried posting after a couple beers again. LOL

I think Diamond just didn't know how roots and TwinScrew style blowers work compared to centrifugals. The more I learn the more I like the Radix setup. Although I would never trade my turbo for it, I don't think my setup is for everyone just like I feel the Radix isn't for everyone...

Thank you guys for all the great info concerning this kit. *thumbs up*

F8L, understandable. Your 12.62 ... is that one a 5.3 with 6.0 heads? How much timing are you running with 11 psi? 9 psi?

6.0L heads. Just some we picked up from salvage. It should have dropped me to about 8.5:1 with the 6.0 gaskets.

Timing right now is at 19deg max. For some reason 20deg make a world of difference and actually starts to spin all 4 tires but we backed it off since I live in a hotter area of Cali than where it was tuned and I wanted to be safe.

I have the system set for 12-13psi right now. I never tried to really max out any other boost level besides 13psi. I was originally running 16deg of timing but we upped it and the truck woke up pretty good but then the tranny started to act up in short order.

If the weather holds I plan on going to the track sat. nigh and my tuner will be there with his wideband so we can actually try to see what I can really do. At this point a new motor is in the works soon so I may try out a few more lbs of boost also.

not trying to steal the post but how many mile is too many to run boost my 2000 has 100,000 miles would it be better to just look for a 6.0 in that case? or is boost pretty easy on a motor?

Some will argue that boost is easier on the motor than say nitrous. *shrug* eitrher way you are up there in miles but if you plan on getting a new motor anyway then go for it. I know BLK6.0HD hyped up his motor with a cam and a big wetkit and he has 100k on his motor. Just make sure you have enough money saved for a new motor. Otherwise maybe just spend the money on the motor now and save up for a blower/turbo kit.

How long would the Radix setup last? I only have 18K on her now, will the combo last for over 100K without the need for a rebuild on the motor or blower? Will the stock 4L60E handle this ok, or would I only need a shift kit with the 60? Or upgrade to another trans? I don't want to have to get a built tranny or a 80, It won't be in the budget.
Going the route of the Radix, Shift kit, and tune, whats the estimated cost?

On another note, How did you guys pay for this? I make a little over 50K a year and I just don't have that kind of money sittin around. Did you guys get a personal loan? Are you guys still makin payments on the truck and will be for some time like me? She'll have over 100K mi before she's paid off.

Thanks for any answers,
Steve B.
