6.0 swap into a 1980 Malibu?
I have just dove head first into this project. The is the first time i have ever had anything to do with a GEN III motor. My nieghbor purchased a used 2001 HD with 190,000 miles on it with two spun rod bearings and a fried oil pump. He acquired a used 30,000 mile turnkey motor from a salvage yard. Needless to say 200.00 bucks later, I have a complete motor from the pan to the manifold. I also have all the mounts, harnesses, sensors, alternator, A/C compressor, belt and pulleys. The only thing I am missing is the PCM. I checked out the bottom end and so far the only things wrong are what is listed above. The front two sets of rod bearings failed. The crank is a little burnt too. After modifications and repairs to this motor are complete, it will be going into my 1980 Malibu. Can I use an edited F-body PCM along with the ZO6 valvetrain and intake? I do plan on used an aftermarket bottom end. Nothing too wild though. I also want to put a T-56 behind it. I know that I will have to change out the flexplate and get all the parts but that's no problem. Or do I have to use the 6.0 PCM and have it edited for all the changes? That and I have all ready checked into a stand alone Painless Wiring harness for this.
