I give ... everything you say is 100% correct. I'm not arguing with you anymore.

It's been said before though, no one in here really cares about dyno numbers. They have a whole section on the site for Dyno Racing, maybe you should go check it out.

My boost gauge points to roughly 7-8 psi at WOT. That's where I was getting my numbers from. If you're not 'buying' it, oh well, not my problem.

ChevyCoonass, I'm sorry for taking part in whoring up your thread, please feel free to PM me if you would like for me to clean it up or lock it so you can start a new one. I don't see anything more positive coming from this thread.

Dude, I have no idea why you have your panties in a bunch. I was trying to meet you halfway.

Dyno numbers are useful for reference. And also for tuning. If you don't care, that's fine. But how is ChevyCoonass ever going to know if he gets his 450 HP if he never gets on a dyno? If you can't or won't see the value in a dyno, that's certainly your choice. That doesn't mean everybody feels the same way.

And if you don't like what the Magnuson reps told me, well, gosh, I'm really sorry. But I'd still like to have that link where Magnuson 'advertises' 7.5 psi on a stock 5.3L, if you have it...

I'm sorry too. Believe it or not, I was only trying to help. I have a 5.3L with a Radix and I am only getting 348 RWHP. I would need 110 more to get to what this guy is after, which is 450. I think it would take a whole helluva lot of work to get that 110 HP more out of my 5.3L, that's all I'm saying.

But hey, who knows, anything's possible with the right amout of time, energy, and $$$.

Cool

Hey guys. Now,now. Ya'll play nice. J/K!

I talked to Allan at FMS yesterday about a 6.0 block and forged pistons. I didn't know that is all I need to turn my motor in a 6.0!!! Of course another cam also. I might be selling my 210/214 cam in mine. By the way that came made 49 rwhp!! It brought me from 268rwhp to 317rwhp. It was all at about 5000 rpm though, but still 49hp. (forgot to add this in my sig).He said maybe a 220/224 for the 6.0.

Anyway Allan said that he could get me 10lbs boost in a 6.0. He has one that he did a while back. I am also pricing a procharger. He said I could more boost than 10psi with that. He was going to build me a custom intake tube to relocate that horrible filter positioning! Then an eaton posi with a TA girdle, and an FLP Level 5.

For you guys that like the 5.3, the reason why I want to go with the 6.0 is because if I change pistons in the 5.3 to forged to be dependable which is one of my main goals(no breaking of parts) I am only a block away from a 6.0

By the way, do you all agree with allan when he told me that my 5.3L heads will work on the 6.0? Is that for lower compression? Higher compression?

You are on the right track Chevy. Keep in mind a ProCharger and RADIX are 2 totally different beasts. They are different in about every way except that they are belt driven.

If you're going to go through the trouble to get forged pistons, yes, you may as well do it in a 6.0 block. Although, if you're doing it to a 6.0, you might as well punch it out .030 to get a few more cubes.

5.3 heads on a 6.0 will raise compression.

I see you made it back down south ... weren't you the guy in Monroe at one time?

I'm just telling my 2 cents worth but I supercharged my 4.8 and was happy with the power it made but I blown it up and now I,m going with the 6.0. My 4l60e finally went to so I made some calls and found a 6.0 and 4l80e combo with only 6k on them. The guy I talked to priced them to me for $3,500 which to me sounds like a great deal. I was thinking of fixing my 4.8 with forged crank pistons ect. but I think my best bet would be going with a 6.0. Just guessing but I bet with the 6.0 and 10 psi behind it you would be pretty close to 450rwhp.

Yea, I just moved back home about 3 months ago. Now I am a little closer to Futral Motorsports!! My wife just graduated from pharmacy school so we're back.

As for as the boring out part of the 6.0, I don't want to get too intense as for as drivabilty goes. I live 17mi. from work.

Can somebody please give me an answer about the 5.3 heads on a 6.0? Will that let me put more boost on the 6.0? Less? Make up for with more N/A power? And to finish the question, which SC will give me the wanted boost? I guess at least 10psi. You said that the Radix, and ProCharger were different well from what I hear, Radix won't even be able to give me the boost. Is that true.

Please give me as much help as possible. I LOVE long explainations by the way!

The 5.3L heads are going to raise the compression ratio on a 6.0L. If you're going to put a blower of any sort on it it's not a good idea to raise the compression ratio. A one point increase in compression will only get you about 15hp give or take on a 6.0L. A one point decrease in compression ratio will allow you to run about 2-2.5 extra pounds of boost though which will gain you about 30-50hp give or take. It's always best to make up the power with boost over compression as long as you're compression ratio is not too low where it makes the truck a dog while not in boost.

Rather than pick a boost number pick a hp number you'd like to hit and pick what blower suits those requirements the best. A boost number really doesn't mean much because different engine setups will show different boost levels but, might make the same power. It'd be best if you picked a power level you are looking for.

**edit**

Nevermind, I see you want about 450rwhp. Either a RADIX or ATI will get you there with a built 6.0L. The RADIX will be nicer on the street with your 3000 stall because of the "instant" type of boost. The ATI will require a bigger stall like around a 3500-3800 to really take advantage of the "powerband" because it doesn't really build alot of boost until later in the rpms.

So am I just screwed? Do I have to buy heads also for the 6.0 swap? Allen at FMS told me that EVERYTHING would bolt on! He also told me that he could get 10 psi from a Radix with that set up. Is he misunderstanding something maybe? It sounds hard to get 10psi with that high compression like you said it would be.

Then how about this thought. Maybe get a procharger since it is a little cheaper, and since people say that it makes power higher in the rpm range, maybe the higher compression from the 5.3 heads will give me more torque for pulling until the procharger's boost kicks in? Does that make sense?

By the way, I definately do not want to get rid of my Yank 3000. I tow sometimes and it feels plenty loose. I just read alot of Procharger threads, and they all say to get a real high stall. It picks up power way late. Everyone seems like they want Radix,Radix,Radix....... But with that high compression ratio, and the smallest pulley, how much boost would I get on the 6.0? Or am I stupid not to buy heads also? To lower compression? Please help

Just to shed some light on the 6.0 VS 5.3 ideas. I made 379 rwhp and 395 tq on a pretty much stock 6.0 through manifolds and a very QUITE exhaust, only upgrades were ASP pulley, E-fans, with a shitty 01 LS6 cam....

I'm hoping for 410-420 rwhp range N/A when I get these Grotts LT headers on...
