If you want, go ahead with the 6.0 swap. If you don't want to buy a full set of heads, stick with the stock 6.0 heads. The lq4 has 9.4:1 compression stock, and that will be just fine for the RADIX. If you leave the stock cam in there, I think that the 2.7" pulley might be OK to run, with some tuning of course. That might get you up to 10psi or so, but no doubt it will be putting down some power.

For what you're wanting, I really don't think you would like the centri blowers. It sounds like you're wanting something that's just a blast to drive and very streetable and reliable. Most of the ATI owners in the truck section will tell you, they wish they would have gone with the RADIX to start with.

Flyer, the point is that I was just going to buy a block. That is it. A block and pistons, and take the crank and rods and everything else off of my 5.3L. Now if I need the 6.0 heads, would I be better off buying a whole motor or not really?
If I do buy just heads, should I get stage 1 or 1 1/2 heads? Or will that make less boost than 10psi?

Do you understand about me having to buy heads now? Has anyone here just converted their 5.3L to a 6.0 with just a block and pistons? Allen at FMS said that is all you have to do. Is he right???

Rocky,like I explanied to you on the phone..Your current heads will "bolt-up" to whatever you want. If you use your 5.3l heads "as-is" on a flat top pistons,yes you will have more CR than what you need.You get dish pistons and\or open the combustion chambers to what CR you desire(8.5-9.5) The biggest thing with these guys,they don't know what exactly I will be doing during the buildup to give you proper info. We have done several 6.0l conversions this way and have made 500+ rwhp easy on boost!

The Radix WILL make 10lbs+ of boost,just have to know how to do it. The biggest thing you need to decide is HOW do you want your boost\TQ curve? Off idle and hard midrange or mid\topend pull. Which way you decide determines the build up(CR,cam,converter,gear ratio,etc...)

Like XLR8NSS said, pick your power level and how you want it, then pulley as needed,whatever the boost is thats it. Total airflow is the power factor. I can make you 500rwhp at 5lbs or 12lbs,just depends on the engine combo.

Technically, yes, that's it. Practicality says you may as well get a shortblock, or a longblock and replace the 5.3. Buying just a 6.0 block and pistons is making it a lot harder than it should be by swapping all the rest from the 5.3 over.

You could prolly get an eBay special 6.0 for a reasonable price, if it came headless, you could pick some heads up on here for 300-350, less if you get lucky. Then you could just swap them as a whole, instead of having to have them both out taking one piece off the 5.3 and putting it on the 6.0.

THe better heads will actually drop the boost, but that doesn't necesarily mean it's less power. The blower will pump a given amount of air regardless of the pressure. If the engine breathes better than the average engine, it will obviously be a lot less restrictive for that air pump sitting on top to push the air through, thus lowering the pressure.

Like X<R said, I think instead of picking x psi, maybe you should target a HP range.

Ebay motor,you never know what your getting?? He wants forged pistons anyway so add that to the ebay motor with replacement\balance\assemble. Why spend $300-$350 on heads when he already has some. The Ebay special "may" have problems,so possible more money to fix? You take his running motor with no problems,put that onto a 6.0l block with good pistons and his current heads,the cheapest and logical approach.

Sure seems like a lot of work to me, but if that's the way he wants to go, whatever makes him happy!

IMO opinion, forged pistons aren't needed until he starts making some big power.

Chevy - Just take it to Allan and let him work his magic. I didn't pay enough attention to see that the pistons would be getting changed out. Running your 5.3L heads will be no problem because the pistons can be ordered to put the compression ratio wherever it needs to be. Allan will get you set up to meet your goals and do it safely.
