the spacer for the 01+ is to allow it to work with the 80....a 00 motor has this built in. GM never intended for the first 6.0s to be "hot rodded". they swapped to the aluminum head 6.0 and then used the standard lenght crank. making the 00 motor worth less, minus it being a core

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think my throwout bearing is completely fixed, appears to ride on a big spring, which may compensate for the 7/16".

I should have said that the pivot point is fixed. Of course, the bearing is moveable, but the range of motion is not adjustable - AFAIK.

Could it be the same with a 2000 v6 and a 2000 v8, I measured from the transmission mounting point to the end of the crank, and it appears to be the same.

I was under the impression that the 2000 V6s, 4.8 V8s and 5.3 V8s were all the short crank and the 6.0 V8 was the long crank. But actual measurement will tell for sure. If you measure from the mounting face of the block to the flange face on the crank, and they both are the same, then I am wrong.
