Default 6.0l swap

I have a 2000 silverado 1500 LT 2wd with a 5.3L. I do some towing and want more power. I found a 2003 escalade 6.0 long block for $1500 and was wandering what I would need to get my truck running with this engine. Im also interested in putting a cam or ? in the engine before i put it in. Any info or thought on this would be apreciated.

Also does this sound like a good deal for the engine or not? Dude said it has 20K miles on it.

$1500 sounds like a good deal for a 2003 LQ9 with only 20k miles. I believe it would be a direct swap with only a PCM retune to take full advantage. The more experienced guys can tell you more.

Its a direct swap you need the computer retuned adnd that is an awesome deal if you can get them to give you the harness you dont need the computer cause the one you have now can just be retuned. I will be doing the swap soon myself. Call a cam or speed shop they can tell you the specs of a cam that will be good for your needs. I would just clean the heads up and maybe get a stage 1 job done to them. I will be replacing the whole valvetrain in mine and getting WCCH set of stage 2 cylinder heads but Im also shooting for close to 500hp at the crank before nitrous too.

thanks for the info guys. Im still unsure about all the externals. If i get the 6.0 long block will I be able to run the 5.3 intake, exhaust , and esesories? Will there be any performance gains by running the 6.0L intake, exhaust?

Also, down the road when by 4l60e goes, what will it take to get a 4l80e set up and working like stock. IE the tow haul mode on the shifter working.

Do the two tranies use differant computers?

Thanks for the info.

The intake and exhaust will swap over. You have to get a new crossmember some wiring stuff there is website that has allt he stuff to do it. The 80 will bolt up. It will cost you about 800 bucks if I remember right for the swap components plus the cost of the 80e but is much stronger. You will probably have to get the computer tuned for it. All engine accessories will swap.

Speartech can set up your PCM for the 80e.

Speed Engineering makes all the stuff you need for an 80 swap including the x-member and driveshaft.
