6.0L Swap starts tomorrow - Should be ready to run for Tuesday
Ok, tomorrow I'm going to start bastardizing my perfectly good working 32K mile '04 RCSB 5 speed truck and swap in the 6.0L. 6.0L engine build consists of the following.
Now all I read on this forum is 6.0 this and 6.0 that. I'm not going to get my hopes up too much for excitement because I just cannot see how a little 364 cubic inch motor can propel a 4200 lb truck as good as something like my 468 BBC in my '70. It's nice when you have enough torque to take off in 4th gear..... I can't see that happening with this motor. Anyways, in the upcoming days I will be adding sound clips of the motor, adding my unbiased opinions on how I think the motor runs out, then after the tune is nailed down I hope to have a chassis dyno done and we should be able to see on paper how the power curves lay down. Also I am going to pick a night here in the upcoming weeks and go to brainerd internation raceways wednesday night street drags. We'll see what this lays down in the 1/4. My goal going into this build was to build a very brute force'd 6.0L that would run hard on the street but yet hopefully be able to trap a low 13 second time in the 1/4 mile on a very mild and well thought out 6.0L Anyone want to put their guesses in now as to what it's going to lay down for RWHP and RWTQ? 1/4 mile times? The fact will I even be impressed at all? Put your votes in now, stay tuned for what's up and coming. Now time to get some shut eye.
- Stock LQ4 bottom end
- Hand ported 243 casting heads
- Patriot Dual Gold Valve Springs
- Cam is a 218/224 .562/.581 with a 114 LSA +2
- 10.6:1 Static Compression Ratio
- LS2 Timing Chain
- Stock Truck Intake Manifold
- 44 lb/hr Multec II Fuel Injectors
- OBX Long tube headers with single 3.5" magnaflow catback
- PCM tuned by myself

I'm most interested to hear about this cam choice in the 6.0
I'd go as far to say that the 6.0 is not really as good as people on here make it out to be. For some reason these LSx motors just don't make good power down low. For a stock truck, the 6.0 is very good, but it's still slow. That being said, you're hardly putting a stock motor in your truck. I think you'll be impressed
You never said but what rear end ratio do you have?
