Number 1 cylinder

There are only 4 lobes that started to wear down. Lifters are not locked up. 1 lifter did have a slight flat spot. Pretty much all the lifters had pits in them all the way around with scratches.

Combo went as this:
Stock short block 6.2
Brand new LS7 lifters
Brand new trays
Brans new head gaskets
Brand new cam
Brand new patriot extreme springs .660s installed by a pro machine shop
Heads stock but milled .020
Stock head gaskets
7.4 pushrods
Stock rockers
.588.601 was the lift

The 1st cam bearing has 3 brass color spots, a slight nick, and a groove straight down the center. 2nd cam bearing is all brass color, a slight worse groove than the 1st cam bearing. 3rd cam bearing i cant see. Last cam bearing looks brand new with no grooves.

Verdict is:
The motor is going to the machine shop for new cam bearings, new main bearings, slight hone and new rings. Depending my funds i may go stroker kit.

Lets the pros give honest opinions and advice please. I can work on it but i am by no means a pro.

My stock cam wore spots like that at 103,000 miles. It wore only on 2 cylinders and the lifters looked as you described, pitted and chipped. It sucks. After my rebuild everything seems good so far. I also thought that it was maybe bad treating of the cam allowing it to wear like that.

No vvt was deleted when i bought the motor.

A squeeking noise that i thought was a tensioner. Pulled the belts and it was still there so i started with the valve covers. No broken springs or anything crazy. Next was to pull the intake to get to the valley cover to look at the cam. Pop the valley cover and bam torn up cam.

Got the cam out and the cam bearings were all brass. So now the motor is out going to get freshened up

Nah no stroker for me. I havent seen too many of them live. Just a stock rebuild is all its getting with the upgraded lifters rod bolts and main studs.

Just a cam only hunk of junk crew cab
