Ditto Here! The L92 really shines when it's coupled to the 6L80E, IMHO. And if you get the E38 PCM and harness, you wouldn't need to worry about changing crank etc. Also, there's no need to delete the VVT since both Comp and Mast now offer some decent cams for the VVT which make upwards of 70HP by just a cam and spring change!
Having said that, what I would like to see is someone do a test between a VVT cam instal and a similar spec cam without VVT in a 6.2L to see what if any power gains there are from the VVT.

I have done this before. I used a gen 3 pcm with a gen 4 engine. I use a 2005 ls2 front cover and upper timing gear. I changed the reluctor on the crank to the 24x. Pressed on, but very vital that it is oriented exactly right. The crank and cam sensors must be 05 and prior. Lastly, the knock sensors must be located externally. Otherwise, now there is a 58x to 24x converter box available from LPE. I have not used it, but it is simpler. BTW, the cam also must be changed to the 3 bolt style too.

why would you take vvt off? isnt that a good thing? make the engine rev faster?
same things would be needed to make an older/smaller engine vvt? is it possible to tune it?

Take off vvt in a gen 3 swap. Not a way to control it with gen 3 pcm yet that I know of.
