Default 8.1 in place of 5.3

Anybody done this change from a 5.3 to a 8.1 in the 99 and 1/2 ton trucks. I thinking about trying when mine goes bad, which I think its starting to. Getting blowby in the air cleaner. Or I can just put it back to stock (engine wise) and get the dealer to put a new motor in since I have the extended warranty. Any Ideas?

That looks nice. Definately hasn't been done much by people. I would have to sell alot of stuff to afford to do it.

I was told that it should drop right in and you can use the wiring harnes and ecu that's in the truck now. You'll just have to retune it.

If you read that article, that is definitely not a stock 5.3L truck, its a combination of parts from 1500's and 2500's.... here I posted that same article up on Parish's site a while back: http://www.neufamily.org/hosted%20stuff/hdss/
