8.1header difference?
I've been looking at some different headers for my 04 2500HD (8.1 Allison) and found a set for a 01-02 8.1 W/O air for a really good price.What is the difference in the exhaust from 01-02 to 03-04? Can they be used at all?

Does your '04 have EGR? I believe the 01-02 trucks had a EGR port on the passenger side manifold. I think they did away with EGR in '03 or '04, so all you'd need to do is just block off the EGR port on the '01 header. I bet they will work just fine.

Are you talking long tube or short? If it's a shorty designed to replace factory manifolds it will fit. If it's a long tube it may require some slight pipe rerouting. It's all very close, there were no major redesigns. I picked up some long tube Stainless Works and the drivers side wraps under the bell housing towards the exhaust system. There's probably some slightly different alignment, pipe sizes and locations are the same.
