It hard to say if they helped, throttle response seems better. I've read and been told that any power gain under 10 hp you won't really feel it. Shorties are only good for about 5-10 hp from what I've seen so it's hard to tell. They definitly didn't hurt and for the price, I don't think you can go wrong vs $750 for some ASM or TOG headers.

I kind of ran into a similar problem with my Gibson headers. Word of advice....don't tighten anything down, I repeat anything, until everything is bolted on. I made the mistake of tightening the head bolts and collectors on the driver's side before I installed the passenger side. <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

I bolted up the flange connection on the driver side before starting on the passenger side. Now that I think of it, the whole thing probably would have hung down and out of the way enough that the passenger side wouldn't have been such a bitch to do.

I just checked, there $200 now and it looks like the free shipping is over. Here's the link to the header page for a 2000, 5.3L truck. Scroll down to the Gibson headers, only the 2WD, air injected headers are on sale.
