It would be a bad SOB!!!!! No doubt! My buddy who is a Aftermarket sales manager at a Chevy dealership was telling me that GM wont let them put aftermarket rims on trucks/cars anymore untill after the actual sale of the truck/car(you know how certain dealers will trick a few rides up with aftermarket ****) because of liabilty type ****. This is seomthing that has happened just this year. A 800hp silverado hell being reg cab or ext cab really wouldnt matter but I know how you guys think-they owe us a reg cab after the SS screwup!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt mind a reg cab 4x4 with the engine setup your talking about. I want 4x4 so i can get it to hook on the street. Otherwise its just as useless as the 500hp SRT10 that you can only go half throttle on. I want to have at least a 3000 stall and be able to hammer it off the line and it take off.
Then again parish has about $24k in his 10 second truck. Thats including the cost of the truck.
BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure how they'd get 800hp.
Even that new nasty 572 BB Chevy, on race gas, puts out 720hp - and that's at the flywheel.
I don't know what's out there for the 496/8.1L, but I think it'd take more than even a good blower to push out 800hp. (IE: Internals).
I don't see how the cost would be kept down, and I don't see how it'd be legal in the '48, nevermind Cali. (Look at the GMMG cars - the big hitters aren't legal)

Please tell me more details about legality in California. I don't understand how this dream vehicle could possibly be legal in CA, considering the law states that any replacement engine be of the exact same type/displacement/etc. as the original.

Given that we are enacting the toughest smog laws in THE WORLD (in case people werent aware, yes, in THE WORLD) fairly soon I do not see how this is possible here. And dont forget that Cali is a weather bell state and these stricter laws WILL carry over to other states in short order.

For it to be supercharged, it would have to be a centrifugal supercharger like a Novi 2000, which can support about 1000 hp or a very big screw like a 2200 or 2400. I don't think the 144" Eaton could keep up with the 800 hp goal.
