James, good info. I have done nothing but about 20% throttle so far. I think one reason it feels so mushy is because of the converter. It feels really loose right now, I'm hoping it's gonna tighten up a little as it wears in.

covvy, welcome to the boards. I did modify the crossmember, and yes, that was the most difficult part of the swap. I will have pictures later on. I have some already that you can look at. I'll get a link here shortly.

GMC, are you getting a built one? I don't have the funds right now to build one, but once this one grenades, I will have one built.

Bigguy, you hit it right on. It's been about 2 months. I now have 2 months worth of dirt lawnmower clippings, and rain residue to clean off the truck too. Good thing my old man does service on all the auto carwashes.

I just uploaded some pictures ... about 20 or so. It shows the construction of the crossmember a litle bit and it shows the final fit. It fits like it was made for MY truck, which it was, but that's just how tight the fit is.

The new ones start at 100_1087.jpg.

I see you went the square-tube route after all. Good choice. The factory piece is stamped sheet metal and wound have fatigued at the welds where the center section came off.

Looks solid.

That thing will be around for ever. If it bends ... someone's needs to check on me in the hospital cause I hit something or someone hit me.

That square tube is almost as thick as the plate. The plate is all we had laying around, so that's what we used. After we had the risers cut out for using the 1/4" plate, we found some other stuff, but since we already had it measures, we went ahead and used that.

I went with a Hughes 10" converter and boy is it loose. I haven't romped on it yet, but I haven't gotten the converter to begin to flash yet. I'm hoping its gonna hit hard when it does hit, it also needs to tighten up some.
