Ok so i have a 1994 GMC Sierra, UNFORTUNATLY i have a V6 I am currently working on a 355, it will stay TBI, this is also my Daily Driver, i dont plan on doing much work on the V6 but what ever i do i want to be able to swap it over to the 355, im looking at the Throttle Body Spacer and the Hyper Charger plate, i have heard different things about both of these, do they actually give any noticable increace? What kind of CAM for the V8, any other advice??? I want it to Eat Dodges and s*** fords!

Ok first off, about the cam:
TBI engines are very picky about the camshafts b/c of the MAP sensor and can be tricky to tune for. With any cam, you will need a custom tune. In a 355, a good cam and an easily tunable cam is a 206/212 or 212/218 with a 112 lsa. Now you will need a flat tappet hyd. unit. However, you can do a hyd. roller unit with the conversion. While you are building your engine, get a set of vortec heads and vortec TBI intake manifold. These heads flow way better than the TBI swirl port heads. But with these heads, you will need more fuel so pickup an adjustable fuel pressure regulator so you can bump up the psi to about 14 or 15 and the chip(tune) will take care of the rest.

Throttle body spacers does nothing....I've owned two of them....two different brands and no difference. The Hypercharger plate does good though. I like mine. I had to take it off when I went with the open element K&N assembly. I would just go straight to the open element assembly and not worry about those two parts. Its the same price and you'll notice more if you don't already have it.

Next thing, exhaust. You need to open it up more. You can get shorty headers or long tubes....either one. The exhaust manifolds(stock) are so restrictive, you get a nice kick in the butt with either. Finish the rest of the exhaust after that with a nice single 3" or you can go duals....2.5" pipe size.

Next would be gears, 3.73s are a nice all around gear...good for hwy driving and performance. 4.10 in my opinion is more of a track gear.

Also, get you a shift kit in your tranny so that it will have a nice shift and get rid of the delay.

Anymore questions, just ask.

right now i just have a single Dynomax with a turn down but this week im going to a 3" Flowmaster, another option that was just offered to me : i LOVE 94-96 Impalas, yeah the LT1s suck but i like the Fuel set-up, well i know a guy<he is an enginneer> he can fit a LT1 style intake on my 5.7 the only thing is finding a fuel set up to match the comp, where would i find a cam like that, i dont really understand the numbers all i know is that is the lift duration at .50 inches i think, i also need a cowl hood if ya know any for sale, well what do you think of the 496 for my car? good motor what? also what kinda motor do you have and what other cars do you have and how old are you??? again i really appriciate the help, this is my first post and i didnt think anyone would acutally help

I know pretty much all the good stuff about our trucks so just ask. Most here are the GEN III engines.

I pretty much answered all of your questions on AOL. I don't know of anyone with a cowl hood for sale but I'll let you know if I do.

Now the 496 in your car is a good engine base....just build it right and you shouldn't have any trouble with it especially since its your weekend car. That means ARP bolts, forged pistons and rods. If you can get the crank too, that would be beneficial if you ever want to add boost or nitrous. Also, get a good flowing head and cam to match your setup. Also, think about what you want to do and pick your compression from there.

If you are still interested in the LT1 swap, a good LT1 cam is the new 218/224 XFI cam from Comp but be prepared to tune. Also, in your truck, you would need to upgrade fuel pumps, and modify the fuel lines. Also, get the wiring harness reworked and computer upgrade.
