Default 97 Chevy fuel pump problems..

Gotta kids truck im workin on its a 97 chevy v6. He has put a new relay and pump in his truck and still cannot get it running.. any ideas?

Since you didn't specify if the pump is or is not working I"m going to assume it's not.

Check the wiring to see if any is bare? Make sure the ground is good.

Can you hook voltage up to the pump directly and get it to kick on?

Also check the harness that plugs into the pump, I guess Gm's are notorious for getting hot and starting to melt. I didn't believe it till it happened to mine this summer.

Older pumps get shipped with a new harness that has to be spliced in, if thats the case on this one, make sure the wires are right?

Just throwing ideas, i remember doing one and the diagram given was worthless and we got lucky.

If you're getting pressure at the rail, check the spider assy inside the intake manifold. I've got the new updated one in mine as I lost an injector.

His wiring looks alright and yes the instructions are junk.. but there is no fire to any wires going to the pump.. the pump works I hooked it directly to the battery. If I cant figure it out soon Im just going to hook it up to a separate relay and have it turn on with key on. As he has to get back to college asap.
