Default Advice on K&N FIPK or VaraRam King Cobra

I really need advice on what product is better for my next up grade for my 5.3 2002 GMC Sierra 2wd. Right now i got Flowmaster 40 series, but for the intake i dont know whether to go with the series 77 FIPK K&N or the VaraRam King Cobra which says gets 30+hp. Thanks for any advice that can be given.

Neither one of them is going to get 30hp... You might be looking at 8-12.... MAYBE..

I went with the K&N which is around 2XX something odd dollars....

I've seen somewhere that the King Cobra works pretty good; I got my intake from MAC Performance, which is a lot like the series 77 for less $$$

have you looked into all of the intakes? dont do what i did and buy the first thing you see then spend more later. check them all out just to make sure. i dont hear too many complaints from the fipk.

I would go with K&N if you want to buy one. there are plenty of people running homebrew kits for a lot less money.

I like it, it makes a little difference, but like the Series 77 it has the chrome intake tube so the air would get heated up some so it doesn't have as much of a "cold air" effect. Looks just as good as the K&N IMO as far as construction goes.

K&N the king cobra is not worth the money IMO. I have heard upd's crack so I would stay away from those.

thats what i did. sold off my open element and got a UPD lid and tube. i got the black one that is less likely to crack. then i put a volant ram air kit in there. i wouldnt put anything else in there unless it was forced induction
