Default Aerochambers

Okay. I have done a search and the only thing it has done is confused me even more.

I have a 2005 Silverado Ext Cab w/4.8 and I want a more aggressive rumble to it. I have decided on a Hooker Aerochamber, that is a given, the thing is I can't decide which one to get. I don't really like the exhaust tips showing so I was definetly going with (a) turndown(s).

If I get a 3"in/3"out I am dumping it BEFORE the rear axle. However, if I go with a 3"in/Dual 2.5"out then I am going with turndowns immediately after the rear axle.

I don't know which 3"in/3"out to get or how much interior drone will result due to the turn down before the axle.

I'm also worried that getting the 3"in/Dual 2.5"out will be too quiet as the shortest case it comes in is 20" [21729] (I've read on here that the longer the body is quieter)

If anyone can chime in and help me make a decision that I won't regret I will highly appreciate it. Thanks.

Some people say the aerochambers dont give any drones inside the cab.

I have the HOK-21506HKR AeroChamber. Got it at summit. Look and listen to my setup.

Exactly the set up I'd like to get. Is there any interior drone? I have a flowmaster dumped before my rear axle on my '92 and it sounds nice but the interior drone and vibration are insane. I'm just trying to get away from that.

Nice truck by the way.

Why does the Offset/Offset 3" muffler cost $20 than the 21506? Is there a difference in performance, sound?

No drone. 21505 off/off 3in and 21506 cen/cen 3in are both 59.95 thru summit. My buddy has the 21505 with shorties and gutted cats, it sounds good but resonates a little. I think the 21506 is better because of the straight thru design vice being offset.

I have dual hooker aerochambers, all custom exhuast it not a kit. I love the sound of it. No drone in the cab at all. I am running dual 3in, both exiting behind the right rear wheel. I had it running for a bit before the tailpipes were on so it was dumped under the cab. ( Aerochambers already in place ) IT was loud in the cab.

I am in Dallas right now and just heard my brother in laws truck.. I recommended the aerochamber to him, so he put it on, and I am not completely happy of the way it sounds, it sounds to low??? but he has a 93' silvy and have cats with about 150k?? do ya'll think that makes a difference.. I just talked to my dad and my aerochamber arrived yesterday... I will be installing it monday... I hope it sounds as good as it does on the videoclips here if not, my Borla is going right back in!!!

Okay, so the Aerochamber 3"in/out came in yesterday and I finally got it installed this afternoon. Dumped right before the rear axle.

Right now I'm still unsure as of what to think. It sounds good but I guess I've just gotten used to the flowmaster sound. There is some interior vibration but no where near as bad as my '92 with the flowmaster.

I'm going to drive around with it like that for a while and if I don't like I'll just get it dumped after the axle.

the best thing to do is dump it after the axle. you won't have any drone or vibrations doing it like this
