nope.. usually reacts faster than the stock one in the MAF.

IAT sensor wires are on one side of the MAF connector.. Tan and black.

For the F-body IATs.....

The TPI IAT is nothing more than a Water Temp sensor. Not the most effective way of measuring.

Whereas the 3rd gen F-body V6 IAT uses an actual resistor in a screened housing. It can't get heat soaked by the pos that the TPIs use & is a common upgrade for the TPI to do when they relocate it out of the aluminum plenum forward into the plastic air duct.

glad to see all this good info, i was pretty pissed no f body ls's were in are boneyard but theres hundreads of the v6 ones there, next time i go ill for sure be grabbing one. one last dumb question after you depin the one from the stock maf how do you hook it up to the sensor itself? take a junkyard harness and just cut it? also where would the best location be on the intake pipe?

The IATs that I posted above are from TPI & V6 82-92 F-bodies. I have no clue what the LS/98+V6 uses for IATS. The IAT is cheap enough at Autozone/NAPA/where ever so we just buy new ones, not used.

To put it in my air intake tubing, I bought the IAT then went over to Lowe's with it to find a nut that fit it. When I drilled the hole I made it just the size of the IAT shaft, not the threads themselves, so I was actually able the thread my IAT into the plastic itself. I can't recall if I put the nut on the inside as insurance to hold it or not but I know I was concerned that it could come loose & get sucked in through the throttle body.
