hrmm ... that's a good question actually. I would bet .. that my Autometer water temp gauge would be able to read a thermister. but I don't know how accurate it woulld be.
If you were to go ahead and splice into those wires, and make you a new IAT sensor .. this would be way more accurate, and you could tune according to the temps a little better for more protection against knock.
You could always splice them back and hide them under wire loom if you decided to go back.
