Alternator Upgrade???

Default Alternator Upgrade???

I currently own a 00 silverado with the a 5.3. I would like to upgrade the stock 105 amp alternator. When I contacted the dealership about it the salesmen told me there was a 130 amp alternator that would fit on all models of the silverado. So I decided I wanted a second opinion so I called the local AC Delco dealership and talked to the guy there. He told me that the 130 amp would not work without changing the bracket setup. Does anyone know what the truth is??? The reason I ask is that I have a high powered stereo system and am going to replace the alternator do to the pulley making noise and would like to upgrade while I'm at it. Has anyone done anything like this and where did you get the parts??? Thanks and hope you can help.

I just put a 145 amp on my 6.0. It fit right in there eve though it is quite a bit bigger. I had to get a longer belt too.

i switched out my 105amp for a 145amp i found on ebay. (pretty good deal)
to help with my e-fans and stereo.
didn't have to change the belt...

I swapped my 105 amp for a factory 145 amp...only mod I did was to use a longer belt (not sure if it's necessary, but I got the part number for the right belt so I figured what the heck). The belt part# is in this thread:

I have the 130 amp in mine, its a plug and play deal.
