iron vs. alum
the iron blocks are going to be found everywhere in the regular chevy truck lineup, they only use the alum on stuff thats pricey, i.e.caddy or in some crossover vehicles where the extra 50 lb or so is gonna be felt like a family suv, buick has 1 with the 5.3 where they are trying for every selling point they can and the weight distribution/ mileage matters.. who cars about the block in a regular p/u when the selling point is how much it tows??? DOn't believe magazines or the internet GO LOOK 4 YOURSELF!!!

Well he is kinda wrong, he just wasn't specific enough, to get the aluminum block, it is an option, which costs more, but you don't have to have an SUV or Caddy to get it, just opt for the L33 option, but i do agree with him not to believe everything that the internet or magazines say, go to the dealership, grab a brochure, and look for yourself, and ask salesmen questions, that's why they are there.

Yes alot of them are, but that is because most salemen aren't enthusiasts, they are just there to sell a product, which is when it becomes fun to be the buyer, when you can walk in and have the upper hand, it's easy to make them feel subordinate, or get what you really want, and it's funny too. There are a few salepeople that either know what they are talking about, or are at least honest with you and let you know they are not totally informed, instead of BSing there way into a sale.
