Sorry for being brand new and just barging into this thread but I have a quick comment. Hot Rod recently tested a junk yard 4.8 for strength on all stock internal rotating components. Twin turbo's, ported heads, decent cam, and a FAST 102 were used. (Also the top ring land gap was widened out) the engine made over 60 pulls on the dyno, many of which were over 1000HP, and it peaked at 1200+HP. The engine never grenaded, they had an ignition failure, and ran out if time on the dyno.

So all things considered, I'd tweak the 4.8 a little, go TT and then have a blast. If it grenades, well it's just 300-800 dollars for another 4.8 out of a junkyard to slap in and go again

thanks fellas i think i will do that, i just hit 86k on the odometer so i need to be doing this asap.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I don't really want to mod my 5.3 too much either. Mine has 125,000 on the odometer, but it is all highway mileage. I cannot decide between F/I or a 6.0, either. What's the cost difference on each?
