Default another cam thread

How do either of these cams look....for use with the stock stall? RCSB 2wd sierra with 5.3 and 3.73s

215/219 .604/.607 113 LSA - “sleeper cam” with smooth idle and TONS of TQ at every RPM from idle to 6000 RPM. This cam is a “torque monster”.

223/227 610/.614 112 LSA - 1500-6200 RPM
mild idle, can be used with stock gears and no stall. Good all around power.

First one might be alright with a stock stall, but i wouldnt call it a "sleeper cam" with a 113lsa. Second one would definitely need a stall. From sounds of it these descriptions are for cars with ls1's no?

Even the factory cam can benefit from a mild converter IMO, so I'd run a higher stall with either of those...2800 for the first one, and maybe 3200-3400 for the second. You're going to hear both of those cams in a 5.3 also...with good idle tuning you can keep the lope to a minimum if that's what you want. My cam is about as big as I'd personally go with the factory converter (ran it that way for a long time), but it's so much more fun to drive with my current Circle-D 3k.

with the price of gas the way its going I don't think I want a converter or a cam anymore. I think I'll get a set of ebay longtubes and a tune this summer, mod the intake and hopefully call it good for a while. I've got a vette servo under my bed right now waiting to get put in. Hopefully all those changes should wake her up a bit from stock.

Depending on your tuner you can achieve about the same highway mpg and minimal loss in the city with a cam and stall. I still get 20 highway with my setup.

x2, I actually saw a gain in MPG with bolt ons and cam (tuners magic), I'd be a little werry on the the stall though, wont see much change in HWY, but say bye bye to the MPG in the city.......Dropped down to about 11-13 on mine with the PI 3600, even though it was actually pretty tight....

I do a lot of city. The most stall I'd want would be a 300mm circle D

My truck already gets bad mileage. I'm sure a cam or stall probably wont help. I've never gotten over 18 highway and usually get like 14 city. Starting to wonder if the o2s are bad, my 98 305 could pull 17 avg all the time...which would be amazing for this one.
