Default another efan swap thread..

ok so i have done tons of research and found out everything i need to know to swap out my stock smaller radiator for the bigger 34 inch one as well as fans. but what i want to know is will the 34" fan come with the same fittings for the tranny lines and oil cooler lines? I have an 03 gmc 1500hd 2wd with the 6.0l and 4l80e. Also if they the lines are direct bolt ups is their anything special i need to do for the tranny line and fluid? I figure i will have to top off the tranny fluid since the level would drop due the amount that would be in the tranny cooler itself.
Thanks and sorry... i know questions like these are common but i have not seen any questions concerning the tranny fluid

If you have a 1500HD you already have the big radiator.

Well you have an oddity if you do have the smaller rad. Maybe because it's a 2wd but I really doubt it. The 05 in my signature has the 34" rad, as does my buddies 05 1500HD which I am swapping to factory e fans as well this weekend.

Mine already has been swapped. It's plug and play as far as installation goes. After that you need either the factory harness or an aftermarket unit like from LS1fans.com who supplies Blackbear. Of course tuning is required to activate the pins on the PCM to control them, which you already know.

And an FYI if you don't have fans. Order the NNBS ( or 07+ trucks) e fans if you want new. I just did for my buddy, and they are Dorman units. They have dual 7 blade fans ( versus mine is one 5 blade and one 7 blade) and are spec'd for the Vortec Max 6.0 liter trucks as well as the 6.2 trucks. Dorman says they are 9 and 7 blade but they aren't( Part # 620-654)....... Identical to drop in your truck and much cheaper than most people seem to want for the dual 5 blade arrangement the 05-07 classic half tons had.... The fans on my 05 are from a wrecked new bodystyle 2007 half ton with a 4.8 and the brand new ones I have cost me only $50 more...... Most morons up here want $250-$300 minimum for used. I can get new shipped to me for $200 so...... Since you are in the states you can get them for about $160 shipped off of Amazon.

The 145 amp alternator is also a very good upgrade if you don't already have it, and the belt is about 3/4" longer so order one for a 145 amp equipped truck if you chose to swap. My buddy is trying to cheap out and ordered the overdrive pulley for his 105 amp... I think he won't like it much, but whatever.

If you have a stock 6.0, then you should have a 34" radiator. Measure the core and find out, if you are unsure.

To answer your question - fittings are the same.

No. They will move more air on even on low when idling as example than the clutch fan could ever dream about. Enjoy better maintained cooling and properly working a/c.....

To give you an idea about how well these work. My work truck is a 4.8. It was 104* here yesterday, I let it sit out in the sun, idling with the AC on max for about 20 minutes. When I got back in it. Temp needle was still below 210.
