Well if that were the case, I would recommend an aux. fuel tank in the bed or perhaps fabbing up a mount for a long bed fuel tank in place of the smaller short bed fuel tank that is in the truck.

I use the more mods=more mileage thing as an excuse to do the mods. I want to make my engine as efficient as possible, and I know there are limits, especially with 3.73 gears and a heavy foot. Plus, I'd rather put $4 a week in a guy's pocket that made the modification I bought rather than $4 a week in some big Oil Company owner's pocket.

Thumbs up

I did these mods for the performance gains, added MPG was just a bonus. Extra low end grunt helps with towing my trailer and it sounds nice too.

Thanks for all the info guys. I would've got back sooner but we had some family stuff come up with the in-laws.
In some ways I kind of agree with badmofo.
There's a point where the amount of $$ you put in will be hard to realise in
long term savings. I've seen these Vararam t'body "stacks" and I'm not so
sure about the claims on those. They seem too much like the "Tornado"
I've though about some long tubes, but the cost of the ones I've seen is 12-1400 bux.
Low-end torque type towing mods may do some good, but I'm not sure how much as I don't do any towing.

I'm gonna look thru some of the mods you guys show and give 'em some consideration.
Thanks again for helping the new-guy, I'll keep reading

Good reply. Sounds like you've got a good head on your shoulders.

Tuning does help out gas mileage. Headers or less restrictive exhaust do too. For that mater, a camshaft swap can increase fuel economy too. A taller, thinner tire will up the mileage as well.
