Default Another question about a BIG cam in a DD

Well the engine in question is my vortec Max 6 liter. My truck is heavyish it a 01 Chevy Tahoe. I have a Yank 3200 stall converter Im installing as well. I have LPP longtubes with ORY, CAI MIT from Airaid, 3.73 gear ratio. My truck is considered heavy still without the 3rd row. So Im thinking I cant use a cam that big. But I read more and more people going bigger. I mean I know I need TQ cause it have a heavier truck, but will more HP overwhelem the lack of TQ I will loose? I really want a superb daily driver, Im not going to be going down the tracks for times etc. I may have a few people in the truck as well its a Tahoe, so thats sort of where Im at. I would like good driveability, and when I get in it, for it to be another animal. Minded I never tow anything, but people in the ride.

The cam I was planing for is a 217/224 duration on a 112 lsa. But Im thinking the VMAX may like more cam. I have a very capable tunner at PCM4LESS I can have the truck dynoed and get some numbers if I go that route. Can I daily more cam and be happier? or am I dead on with the cam I have researched and speced out. Just planing for the future, cause Im going to prob get rid of the stock 196/207 cam in here.

I dont need a thread saying call for this spec or that, Im wanting opinions and explanation for what I should do.

interesting. Sort of what I was thinking too. But does anyone know if a 232/238 way too much? for a 3200 stall? I just want the most out of the cam swap, no adder, so I can be happy with the engine.

http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=2025&gid=288 But Im thinking its too big, but maybe Im wrong, it says major street/strip sort of what I was wanting. 2400-7000 but I dont know if the stock rockers can handle that, but its specs for a 5.7-6l

^^^^ Oh yea, thats the part of my thread where by I mean BIG CAM! Please guys I need good information here...

for what u are saying i would probably stay upper 22x duration on like a 112. i wouldnt really go any higher cause i think you would move the power band higher. what gears do u have also. a gear swap will make your truck feel like it has more torque

If you go bigger i would recommend to go bigger with stall. Where does converter flash now? I prolly wouldnt go bigger than a 224-226 with a 3200 converter unless its really loose.

Im not trying to change what I already have, so it looks like a smaller cam is what I need. I have 3.73 gear ratio. Now Im planing something like a 220/224 on a 112 or 113 lsa. Prob go with the high lift like 1slowz71 is saying. Could only make more power that way. My converter is a Yank 3000 TT re stalled and lossened up to a 3200 is what I was told.

Hey Andrew, I didnt talk to Alvin about the cam, I was just trying to have everything ready before I took it to him. But maybe I should do just that, I know he has his own line of cams, but they are pretty god damn big.
