Default Another rearend question?

Appearently when I had my Eaton posi put in awhile back, the guy that installed it stripped the threads out of one of the holes that holds the rear end cover on. I have a TA girdle and I am slowly leaking fluid. Please help! Thanks, Brandon

You need to pull your cover off, find out which one is stripped, and from there you have a few opitons.

1. You might get lucky and be able to clean up the threads with a tap (thread cutting tool) that is that same size and thread count as the bolt.

2. You could buy a heli-coil kit and drill out the threads, tap it with the tap in the kit. Put the heli coil in, and call it a day.

3. You might be able to drill and tap it to a bigger size thread/bolt and put in a bigger bolt. You'll have one odd ball bolt and you'll proably have to drill your cover.

4. Tell the guy that did your rearend he's an ***, and tell him to fix it. Not in that order of course.

If you want to do it yourself I vote option 2, I've had good luck with heli coils in the past. Option one is risky and you have a 50/50 chance. Option 4 is up to you!
