Just wondering how many "slappers" we have with high miles on them out there? What is you mileage and have any of you had engine failur because of the slaping piston?

My gf's brother has 00 Sierra with the 5.3 has over 140k miles on it. It started slapping at about 10k miles and still runs very strong.

My 02 8.1 HD is still slappin and drinking massive amounts of oil(500 miles to the Qt).It runs strong at 56,000 miles.I think its more of an annoyance than longevity issue.Still drives me nuts.

Ive got a 97 vortec 350 with 173,000miles and I have no slap at all, runs strong and burns no oil.15.3s-15.4s in the 1/4 mile also.

Well let's not brag about it! Just kidding, I wish I had an engine like yours...I guess time will tell if I'll ever see that kind of mileage.

I love my truck and its been great.I have had a new fuel pump and a new trnny, but what else is new the transmissions these days dont last as long as the th400s,but they did not have overdrive either. But other than that everything else has been great and strong and I hope it stays that way.Last time I went to the track in Navasota which is only an 1/8mile my buddies went and one of my buddies has a new ram with the hemi.We raced 4 times and I beat him every time.Even with 173,000miles I had beat a hemi with only 10,000 miles on it.I was happy that weekend,my truck did me proud. Dodge and the hemis
When we raced I did not have the westers PCM,so now i know I would beat him even worse. The westers made a huge difference.

I have ~80K on mine and it still runs good and burns no oil. It has 'slapped' since the day I got it.
