Anyone used this spec Comp Cam or close on a 5.3 yet? We pulled it out of a vette and it was given to us so I figure heck..what would it do in the truck? Even have some 918's sittin here with titanium retainers. Only thing really holding me back is that they don't have edit for the 03 truck out yet...so if it idled like crap I would just have to live with it.

Anyone?

I have a 218/218 114 .563 cam for my 6 liter motor. I haven't run it so I don't know how it will perform. My gut feeling is the 215 cam you have will be pretty good.

go for it, someone has to put a big cam in a stock motor eventually. i would put the hammer cam in my stock motor but i don't think that would be a very good idea. 222/222 .566/.566 112. once i get edit if the big motor takes to long to finish i might put the hammer cam in and the set of ported 5.3 heads i WAS going to use on the 370(it's getting P&P LQ9 heads).

We put a 216/216 .538" XE comp in my buddy's 5.3L and it idled pretty well. You could definitely hear it lump, but he had no stalling issues. Pulled like crazy up top.

I put a Comp 214º .559" 112lsa in a '01 5.3l. Nice lope at idle. Low end torque sucked until 2300rpm, then it run real nice up to 6100. Fixed the low end torque problem with a Yank 2600 Thruster and some 4.10 gears. Truck runs awesome. Now I can't keep the trans from breaking........
