Anybody towing with the FAL 282 fans?
Just want to make sure Im not going to have problems overheating with them. I have read where people have had problems towing the 05 efans, the ls1 efans and a few of the other smaller fan variants.

I want to know as well, very good topic.
Recently I was towing our enclosed trailer up a long hill in this summer heat, and I saw my coolant temp reach 220! I backed off of the throttle and it strated to come down, due to the fan working at speeds. I worry what would have happened had I had the E-Fans instead.

I think it may have been a problem with the radiator. I have now replaced my water pump, thermostat, fan (back to clutch) and was still having problems. Swapped to a brand new OEM radiator (also flushed and switched to the regular old green coolant) and I think the problems are gone. We haven't had a nasty hot day yet and I haven't towed yet but it seems to do better. I was overheating at idle with the clutch fan If that doesn't scream "problem" I don't know what does.
The one I was running was a junk yard pull-out. I've heard that dex-cool likes to gel up or deposit crap on some of the surfaces when left to open air for an extended period of time. I don't know how long it sat open in whatever wrecked truck it came out of, and I had it open for 2 months while I did the latest motor swap. I have a feeling that I either got a bunch of junk in between the fins or that I have a lot of surface deposits inside the radiator.
Anyway, I have no plans to switch back to e-fans. I'm tired of troubleshooting, and if this fixes the problem I am not going to change it again. I don't even really notice a difference actually, and it's another set of electronics and wiring that I don't have to mess with. Peace of mind, I guess.

Main reason Im doing the swap is for gas mileage(from what I have read) and to clean up the front of the motor to show off the motor more when I finish my vic jr swap, there will be alot fo bling under the hood

No problem towing with the fans, but the main power wire to the fans has been getting extremely hot and blowing fuses. I have traced the event to when my A/C condenser cycles on and off. I think my BCM is craping out.
