anyone ever polish a combustion chamber?
since i am going with a turbo and i will have the 6.0 apart i figure i will do a nice cleaning on the heads. anyone ever try and polish a chamber? seems like a little deburing or polishing or something wouldn't hurt while i have it apart. anyone ever do anything like that? is there too much casting material to really get it smooth?

Cross-Buffs from Standard Abrasives are the BEST way to polish a combustion chamber, use a rotary grinding stone to smooth out the spark-plug boss and then polish the hell out of them with the Cross-Buffs

Parish,I don't think the AFR heads are going to give you any more power with the turbo than ported 6.0 heads and a forged piston 6.0 engine will probably make more effecient use of the turbo size in your kit.Just spin the motor a little higher with a little higher boost.

Polishing will help with detonation. There are some serious casting bumps on these heads which would make them prone to heat spots. I am in the process of porting my own 6.0 heads (just put the grinder down less than 2 hours ago) and I am planning on polishing mine. I have little patience so I don't know if I will ever achieve a mirror finish, but anything will be better than stco.

a set of ported 6.0 heads with springs and a good valve job aren't going to be all that much cheaper than the afr heads i dont think and the afr heads have an extra thick deck wich should be a really good thing for a FI set up. seems like the afr heads are listed under 2k complete with no exchange. then sell the 6.0 heads for a few bucks.
there are so many ways i can go with this i just dont know for sure what to do.
