Default Anyone had experience with this cam?

First off, hey everyone I have been a lurker sometime and finally joined. This is hands down the most imformative site period. Well I have a 2001 x-cab z71 with 35's 4.56's. I am currently searching for a good dd cam to run without a stall and have almost decided on this one http://sdparts.com/details/scoggin-d...er/cc54-st1-11. I think it should have good lowend and hopefully a good lopey idle which is what I am looking for. Does anyone know anything about this cam? Sound clip or performance results? Also I have z06 springs and would like if there is anything special I need to know to change the seals or will the stock replacements for my 5.3 work, do I need new seats or anything? Or will stock stuff work? Thanks ahead of time.

Welcome bud!

I have no experience with that cam, but i had a 212 218 comp cam in my old 04 Z71 5.3. That cam ran great, had a nice rumble at idle, and was a blast to drive, but i also had a Vigilante 2800 stall and turbo.

How many miles are on your truck??

Im doing a cam swap right now on my 2000 Z71 5.3 with high miles,

So i'll be replacing the water pump ( i ve been told they go around 90,000)

the Oil pump ( a new LS6 pump is under a 100$ at the dealer)

A new LS2 timing chain.

You'll need a gasket kit with a new crank bolt ( GMPP makes a cam gasket kit for LS engines)

Then just your cam, valve springs, and push rods depending on your cam requirements or mileage on your motor.

You have 4.56 gears so your basically like stock with that tire/gear combo.

I wouldnt be afraid to run that cam, but im sure others will share their thoughts with ya,

Good luck.

Oh dont forget a Tune.

Yea I looked at that cam but was thinkin this one because of the higher duration and lower lsa, I have a tune already so all I need to do is send it back with specs, just replaced the water pump so I should be good. How many miles do you have on your 2000, just curious. Thanks for the advice

Will the Z06 springs work with this cam? And should I get new pushrods?

I wouldnt run those springs. for one they are over kill and two that came off a nascar style engine that lives at 9000 rpm, its seen alot of abuse in its life. I would ls6 springs with that cam, but thats just me.
