Default Anyone stroke a 5.3?

worth the effort? what crank and what's the cubes end up being? I was looking under the truck, and i saw that my front cradle is removable in the center. if i remove, or move the steering rack i could remove the pan.... making for a easy in truck crank swap. Unless there's block work required. Any info or input welcomed, thanx guys

I think eagle makes a kit for the 5.3, a stroked 6.0 gets 402 cant remember what the 5.3 stroked is somethin funky.

You can bore and stroke the 5.3 and e a 408 someone on here has gone even bigger with he block hope they jump in.

the stroker kit is around 4grand though ouch!

Most people dont want to do all that work to a 5.3 when its only going to be around the size of a 6.0 or slightly larger after its stroked. Only way your going to get any larger is to overbore to a 5.7 and risk the weaker block being bored that thin. May as well supercharge your 5.3 or drop in a heads/ cam 6.0.

The POS 305 small block really came alive when bored/stroked to a 337. How hard would it be to stroke a 5.3? I'll probably just build a 408 though. Or a really bada$$ 6.0

but if you can swap the crank with the engine in the truck.......... wouldn't it be a real easy, cube upgrade. If i could get in the area of 6.0, i'd be happy. If i were to build a motor it would definatly be a 408 or something of the like...... but i have a 2004 with 12,000 miles on it... a crank swap is definatly an upgrade i'd consider as a worthwhile upgrade if the performance is there to support it. Anyone know if dropping the crossmember and steering rack allow for the in-truck swap?

btw, a supercharger is in the plans for future...... but a stroked motor would only respond better.... i think. The low end would be real nice.

I'd think you would start to run into problems with compression and boost on a FI stroked motor, someone correct me if I'm wrong. The 6.0 is a direct fit replacement for the 5.3, everything bolts right up and plugs right in. $4000 vs a good amount of work or $1200 or so for a motor and a good amount of work to get to the same place....I'd definitely go for the 6.0.

you would have to replace rods or else your pistons would stick out of the block so either way you would have to pull the motor. unless you wanted to just pull the heads and intake so you could take out the pistons and rods then replace the rods then put it all back together again.
