Anyone use larger crank pulley to get more boost??
I see alot of F body guys using larger crank pulleys to make more boost as opposed to smaller blower pulleys and dealing with more slip. Have any of your guys looked at this or is it unavailable to us truck guys. Is this a difficult job?? Im unsure as to what this would entail or how it would affect the rest of the engine. Ive been searching to find out more about it, but cant seem to find much.

Does the vortech use the factory belt line up? If so you have to remember that a larger crank pulley will speed up all the other accessories with it......not good for cooling or Power Steering.

If the type blower you are using has a separate belt, you could have a larger pulley custom made like I did. I had to send in the original Whipple pulley so they could make a blueprint off it, then they made the new one to my specs. I had ASP do this, and it cost about $250. Other pulley companies might be able to do it too.

IF the Vortech uses the same belt line as the factory accessories then this will be an issue. When you speed up the Alt, P/S, and water pump you are basically putting more "miles" on them. Not to mention you will be over boosting your power steering and the coolant will be going through the radiator faster, not allowing for it to completely cool.

With the procharger it wouldn't be an issue my camaro used a seperate belt to drive the blower, as long as the trucks are the same,,,no problems there, but i guess the vortech uses the same belt as everything else which brings about the problems listed above.
